The beauty of Halong Bay, Vietnam
As we were almost certain to cut short our trip so Ron could face his condo, we wanted to go with a bang. For help and Abed this idea, my father had given money to obtain certification Diving Christmas, which seemed a loss at this point. So we recaptured funds and settled on a luxury cruise around Halong Bay our swan song of the trip. Thank you daddy! To begin our part jet, we flew to Hanoi, instead of the horrible night bus, which made us feel like movie stars from the start. The next morning we took a shuttle bus three hours to a private dock in Bai Chay, where we were greeted with towels hot hand and a fruit drink.
You can take a number of visits to the Halong Bay, a few hours to a few days, from $ 25 to over $ 500 per person. We took the 3-day cruise on Indochina Sails is one of the luxury lines. The boat, I mean Chinese junk, has just 16 rooms, but were less than half full. He breathed love and for us it was a matter very indulgent so I had those chills that whispered, "So how is life different class."
Our room was comfortable wooden about eight feet square, but the domination king pillow top was down comforter (duvet down!!) and was stuffed a mile high with pillows. "Yay!" I shouted for joy internally to me as I threw on all trim unnecessary bed and pompous, "have the luxury of being bored of pillows!
The bathroom was all marble, granite and glass wool, and reminds me of our suite in Goa. Too good to be true, almost too good to use. Certainly interesting to use the high seas, swaying and tossing around on slippery floors. But the piece de resistance was the giant picture windows overlooking the beautiful bay floating slowly past. It was so beautiful that we just sit and watch with respect. We could not bear to close the curtains, unless absolutely necessary, lest we have missed a fraction of a second of the majesty.
Nothing could not be more perfect, and of course I started off with a cold. What is wrong time for the final of our trip! But I was not let it slow me down. I hit a shot behind Jack Daniel's and jumped out of the ship's hull 12 feet in ice water. This should I either wake up or kill me, I thought. I put all my money, this is meager scraps left on the former.
We lunch in the room large teak dining on the second floor of the ship. Our table for the rest of the trip, was in the corner along a long stretch of windows. Baskets generally have a five-set course menu, seafood and various meat dishes, some more successful than others, all much more fancy than our usual fare. Needless to say we were excited about everything, even something as mundane as radish rose.
The first activity of the route was a stop at Ti Top Island located 7-8 km south of Bai Chay. We could swim and sun on the crescent moon shaped beach and hiking the 427 stone steps to a rotunda-style pagoda. The hike in the upper left me dizzy and sweaty but the 360 degree view of the bay surrounding dotted Thousands of limestone islands rising out of the water was spectacular. The legends say that the islands were created by a great dragon, which the name of Halong Bay is reflected, "where the dragon descends into the sea."
Our first afternoon we went kayaking in a double sea kayak. It was a pleasant sunny day to be on the emerald green water. We paddled into the cave Luon Bo, water erodes the natural granite arch in an isolated input. I like to be inches above the water with the peace of nature all around you. Especially when you pull your oars and glide along perfect happiness.
With no time to lose, we were back on board for a quick shower and change clothes so that we can be ready for dinner. I can not get used to this buffet of food at regular intervals. Have some say buffet? Oh yes. Every night for dinner was a buffet! Nothing excites me more than having a sumptuous feast ready for picking. I can get a half-ton Spring dozen extra sauce, pork falls off the bone ribs, mixed steamed vegetables (I actually squeaked when I saw broccoli free), and a jumbo shrimp cocktail. And then, a repetition of my favorites. Oh joy! (I can always buy more clothes when I get home, right?)
I had the best night's sleep aboard the ship of the soft lull of the waves. Particularly fascinating to me, I was Early on the bridge and Tae Kwon Do before breakfast. The instructor tried to teach us graceful slow movements deliberate, but it was difficult to follow. Sometimes we would return and would be behind us. And then we would be perched on a stand in a position of crane, which would be quite difficult if the ship under the feet was rocking actual land. Half of us stumble into laughter. What do you expect at 7 o'clock in the morning?
We visited the Sung Sot or Surprise Cave "which was discovered in 1901 by French explorers. Impressive large square meters to 10,000 with thousands of stalactites and stalagmites and well lit.
Some of the interesting shapes and configurations. This, the guide told us was a big gun. Mmm hmm, sure. Maybe in your country, buddy.
We visited Cua Van fishing village, which was defined distance. Not a Walmart in sight. Instead, the mini-mart would palette for you where the mother and children enterprising Pringles and Oreos sell you their family boat.
Surprisingly, they had electricity (generators From I suppose) to operate the radio, television and lights in their houseboats. There are 176 households floating and even a floating school, supported by the empty drums. Everyone around by boat, children learn to swim before learning to walk, and generation after generation, fisherman growing waters. I'm sure this is not an easy life, but you could not paint a better view from the window of your office.
We went kayaking again and I realized Some couples simply should not kayak with each other. This was our third attempt, and as always, she ended with a brawl. We could not paddle time together so we struck oars. We also could not decide who was the director so that we would be going too near the shore or other boats. It was almost comical how we could turn back overcompensation each round until we have been reported in the completely wrong direction. We bickered all the time. I think we both promised to stay on dry ground from now, very least, to save our relationship.
The rest of the evening, we sipped our whiskey smuggling on deck, watching the sunset bits in orange behind the granite blocks. Ah, that's life.
Before we knew we were sailing back. Like the rest of our trip, he went too fast. Time on Indochina Sails was a culmination of all the unexpected trip. So if you want an idea of unconventional holiday, why not take a trip to Hanoi, a romantic cruise on Halong Bay, and (I heard is) a fascinating cultural getaway in tribal villages in Sapa.
